Ovens turn your home kitchen into a true all-rounder. They let you cook your favourite restaurant meals, bake sweet cakes and pastries, or conveniently make a tasty casserole or lasagna. When you are choosing an oven, you should consider 3 things: size, type, and features.

Choosing the perfect oven size

Which oven size you should buy depends on what you are planning to cook and how many people are in your household. An oven that fits the standard size of wall or counter openings of around 60cm will usually have a capacity between 50 and 75 liters. If you have a large family and plan to oven-cook plenty of meals or are planning to entertain lots of guests, we recommend that you choose a gas or electric oven with a larger capacity. For couples or small families that don’t cook a lot, a smaller oven is usually sufficient.

Choosing the best oven type

Ovens come in many shapes and sizes.

  • Compact ovens give you all the benefits of having your own oven at home, but don’t take up as much room as classic single or even double ovens, so they are a perfect fit for smaller kitchens.
  • The traditional single oven comes fully equipped with the latest features and a convection fan system that helps you cook any meal evenly.
  • Steam ovens utilize the power of steam to let you cook healthier and more visually appealing meals, while also being better suited for reheating food than a microwave.

In many cases, you can also choose between a freestanding oven or a built-in oven, with the former often a more compact electric oven version that can fit on your countertop.

Choosing the oven features you need

Make sure to choose an oven that does what you need it to.

  • Do you have children in your home? Then choose an oven with extra protective glass to prevent injuries.
  • Do you frequently cook large roasts? Many Electrolux ovens come with a food probe to check core temperatures. Our low-watt electric ovens can also save your electricity bills, especially when you often have to serve large group of guests.
  • Do you enjoy fried food, but would like to maintain a healthy diet? Go for an oven with airfry functionality and try frying food using oven without cooking oil.
  • And do you hate cleaning? Choose an oven with pyrolytic or steam cleaning that will make your life a lot easier.

Additional factors to consider

Besides the three factors mentioned above, you might also want to consider other features when purchasing an oven:

  • Fan or without fan: Convection ovens distribute heat more evenly thanks to built-in fans, while convention  ovens are traditional type of oven which come with basic features and not usually equipped with fans.
  • Energy type – Electric or gas oven: Electric ovens tend to be a more popular choice as its installation is simpler compared to gas ovens.
  • Color: Even though most ovens are available in black, you can still find stainless steel color option for some Zanussi ovens.
